Ajwa dates have their fame from the traditions of Islam and originate from the area of Medina in Saudi Arabia. They are so popular that they are even faked and their authenticity can be recognized by their unique white stripes.

Ajwa dates are relatively dry compared to other dates, but are still soft and sweet and melt in the mouth. Ajwa dates are particularly loved for their health-promoting properties. 

Dates are particularly nutritious. They contain between 60%-70% carbohydrates. They have an exceptionally long shelf life and are perfect for stocking up. According to tradition, the peoples of that time often ate only 1-3 dates a day.

"'Ajwa dates ^[1] come from paradise." (Tirmidhi 2068 said 'Hasan Authentic'; and it was declared authentic by Shaikh al-Albani)

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: 

{من تصبح بسبع تمرات عجوة لم يضره ذلك اليوم سم ولا سحر}

"Whoever has seven 'Ajwa dates in the morning will not suffer any poison or magic damage that day." (Authentic al-Bukhari, 5445, 5768, 5769, 5779)
