Tajine Gamila glazed clay pot - tapas dish

This clay pot is the most commonly used cooking utensil in Morocco. Tagines are hand-made from natural clay and fired in an oven. You can use this tagine to cook all kinds of dishes (fish, meat, and vegetables) at low heat. The gentle cooking process preserves many vitamins and allows the ingredients to develop their full flavor.

Traditionally, the tagine is used over an open fire. However, it can be used on all types of stoves and in the oven. (An adapter plate is required for induction cookers.) Details: glazed and painted. Outer diameter approx. 23 cm. Inner diameter approx. 21 cm. Total height approx. 5 cm. Serves 1-2 people.

Brief information on proper handling and care: Before cooking for the first time, the tagine must be soaked in water for approximately 10 hours. Then, grease the bottom of the pot with oil. The tagine is cleaned with warm water, without detergent. Please never clean the tagine in the dishwasher. You can use the tagine to prepare braised dishes on the stovetop or in the oven.

Tagines don't tolerate high heat and should always be heated slowly, at medium heat at most. Placing the tagine on a hot stovetop or in an already hot oven may cause it to crack. Please note that we cannot accept liability for cracks caused by improper use.
